Dr. Gysbert Fourie is an experienced family physician with more than 20 years of medical experience. After graduating with his MB ChB in South Africa in 2000, he completed his postgraduate training in the United Kingdom, where he worked as a family physician (GP) for nearly two decades before moving to Alberta.
During his career in the UK, Dr. Fourie was involved in both clinical practice and medical education, including training and supervising future family physicians as a GP Trainer. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners (FRCGP) in December 2025 in recognition of his experience and contribution to family medicine. He also holds an MBA, reflecting his broader interest in healthcare leadership and improving the way care is delivered.
Dr. Fourie provides comprehensive family medicine for patients of all ages, from children and adolescents through to older adults. He has particular interests in men’s health, musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions, mental health, preventive medicine and chronic disease management.
His additional clinical training includes joint injections and no-scalpel vasectomy, alongside a broad range of skills developed through many years of family medicine practice.
Dr. Fourie believes strongly in continuity of care and taking the time to understand the person behind the medical problem. His approach is practical, thorough and collaborative, with an emphasis on helping patients understand their health and make informed decisions about their care.
Dr. Fourie is currently accepting new patients and families in Okotoks and surrounding communities.
